Okay, so the huz (h/t Tenaya Darlington for that exponential improvement on the unbearable 'hubby') was scrolling through the Ancien Regime music collection on iTunes. By which I mean the music from the 80s, those non-halcyon days of our youth.
80s music has become stereotyped as nothing but hair steroids. Thing is, that there would be an oversimplification. We were listening to samples of Afrika Bambaataa, Dead Kennedys, X, Danzig. Earlier that day I had heard U2's "Some Kind of Homecoming" on the radio.
"I fear we are going to have to get nostalgic for how much better things were in our day," I said.
Huzarino affected the palsied voice of Granddad reminiscing about the Depression. "We had real music in our day! None of this processed, assembly-line music with the technology and the computers and the drum machines..."
"Um, we had drum machines," I said.
Without missing a beat, he palsied, "But they were analog drum machines!"
Makes all the difference!
